Rita Yerkes, Ed.D. is the President of Yerkes Consulting LLC. She is the former Dean of the School of Experiential Leadership at George Williams College of Aurora University where she taught Outdoor Pursuits Administration and Research in Recreation Services. During her thirty-eight years of school and university experience, she created innovative professional training and experiential education programs at Towson Sate University, Miami of Ohio University, State University of New York - Cortland and George Williams College of Aurora University. As a professor and dean she created numerous student teams to conduct consulting projects for business, education, human services agencies, communities and non-profit organizations.
She is the past president of the Council on Outdoor Education, past president and accreditation chair of the Association for Experiential Education and co-founder of the Coalition of Education in the Outdoors and currently serves on the American Camp Association-IL board.
Rita has served as an editorial board member for Camping Magazine, Journal of Experiential Education and the Eric Clearinghouse on Rural Education and Small Schools. She has authored book chapters, numerous journal articles and conference presentations.
She has recently completed projects for the American Camp Association, National Recreation and Parks Association, Porter County Indiana Parks and Recreation and the Rockford Park District.
